Alberto Antonini, Consulting Winemaker

Alberto Antonini is our internationally-renowned travelling winemaker, bringing sage advice from all corners of the world. The two constants in his ever-changing environment are his expert advice, and the ability to slap on a pair of sneakers and hit the dirt running. Alberto has earned an international reputation for creating some of the top wines in the world. He earned his doctorate in agricultural studies at the University of Florence and studied oenology at the Université de Bordeaux and UC Davis. Alberto was a senior winemaker at Antinori and Frescobaldi in Tuscany, and at Robert Mondavi, Au Bon Climat and Qupé in California. Today, Antonini consults in several wine regions as diverse as Patagonia and now, the Okanagan. In August 2010, he made his first trip to the Okanagan, specifically to inspect the vineyards that supply grapes to Haywire, to set the winemaking protocols for winemaking and to provide advice to the design team with respect to the new Okanagan Crush Pad winery facility. Alberto visits the OCP team four times a year. At home in Tuscany, he lives at Poggiotondo, his 50-hectare estate in the western hills of Chianti, with his wife and three children.
